PETER HARDY - Bill Austin

Peter appeared as Bill Austin in the original Australian production of MAMMA MIA! from opening night in Melbourne in 2001 to the end of the Australasian Tour four years later in 2005. He is delighted to be returning to the role.

Peter has been performing professionally since 1979 when he graduated from Mount Lawley CAE with Majors in Drama Theatre Arts & Media. In that time he has appeared in over forty stage productions, more than thirty television productions, eight films, two operas and an operetta, six bands, recorded sixteen audio books, two CDs and numerous ABC radio dramas, presented three radio shows, appeared in cyberspace and kept many fish.

His highlights and favourites in a colourful career include appearing alongside Hugh Jackman as Dee Anthony in the Arena Spectacular of The Boy From Oz (2006, Kenny Ortega, Gannon/Fox); Bill Austin in MAMMA MIA ! (Phyllida Lloyd, Littlestar Services); Phil Rakich in McLeod’s Daughters (Southern Star); the hit movie Chopper (Andrew Dominik, Mushroom Pictures); Eddie in Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love; the title role in Oedipus; Roo in The Summer of the 17th Doll; Val Xavier in Orpheus Descending (Raymond Omodei, Hole In The Wall Theatre Company); Denis (The Gorilla That Took Manila) Gibson for ABC TV’s Naked - Stories of Men (Neil Armfield); the comedy cabaret duo Divine Decadence – The Classic Sweat Pose Revue; the dance-funk outfit The Fat; and performing the one-man play and making the award-winning film of Chasing Rabbits in Australia, Canada & the U.S.A.
