ROBERT GRUBB - Harry Bright
Robert returns to the role he played in the original cast of the Australian Premiere production.
In a career spanning 30 years, Robert’s musical theatre credits include 'Max/Sheldrake' in Sunset Boulevard 'Pop' in WE WILL ROCK YOU, for which he received a Helpman Award and Opera Australia's production of My Fair Lady for which he received another Helpmann nomination for his portrayal of 'Doolittle'. This year he appeared in the Australian premiere of Shane Warne the Musical and in Opera Australia’s A Little Night Music.
Robert’s film credits include featured roles in Phar Lap, Gallipoli, My Brilliant Career and Mad Max 3.
It was the role of Dr Geoff Standish in the TV series The Flying Doctors that made Robert a familiar face in Australia and overseas. Recent television credits include SeaChange, McLeods Daughters, All Saints, Curtin and The Society Murders.
Robert has worked for most of the major Australian theatre companies. A particular highlight was the role of Rene Gallimard in the MTC production of M. Butterfly. Other credits include Company, Into the Woods, Arcadia and The Resistible Rise Of Aturo Ui. He appeared in some 25 productions for the STC of SA, for directors such as Jim Sharman, Nick Enright and Neil Armfield.
In 2000, Robert directed, performed and adaptated Tennyson’s Enoch Arden. The production earned Robert a Green Room nomination for his performance.
Having performed the role of Harry in the 2001-2002 production of MAMMA MIA! Robert is delighted to reprise his role in the 2009 season of the hit musical.
